Hot Rod Lettering workshop

We will start on Thursday and Friday at 10.00 and continue until 17.00
Our goal is to familiarize you with the typefaces used on cars and motorcycles, as well as in small sign projects. The course does not follow an academic approach to lettering; instead, it is based on styles that Wizzzard has used for a long time—styles that have proven to work effectively.
We begin with the fundamentals of lettering: how letters are constructed and how to compose text using them. We cover the main types of lettering styles you will encounter in the hot rod industry: Casual and Script. We will be painting a lot and you will get accustomed of the brushes, paints and get plenty of hints regarding the painting. Pekka will guide you trough the workshop literally by hand, but of course you do the painting yourself.
What to bring
You will need a transparent ruler (approx. 50 cm long) and an HB pencil. If you have your own lettering brushes, please bring them along, as well as any mahl sticks, etc. However, we also provide sable-hair brushes for everyone. If you have done lettering work previously, feel free to bring examples; we can review them as well.
Bring work clothes and comfortable shoes. We paint standing up in front of the easel.
Easels, painting surfaces, brushes, and paints are provided on-site.
The pinstriping paints used are alkyd-based and thinned with white spirit (mineral spirits). This is a common household product, but please let us know if you are allergic to white spirit. We do not use turpentine, which is more likely to cause sensitization.
Who is this workshop for?
Lettering is for everyone; I consider 16 to be the minimum age, as concentration and stamina are crucial for this work. Of course, a younger person can participate if they are enthusiastic. Prior training is not required, though it certainly wouldn't hurt. You are also welcome to bring your own work for evaluation.
Schedule: Saturday from 11:00 to 17:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00.
How many participants?
Ten to fourteen participants is an ideal amount of students.

Your registering will be active as soon as you pay the participation fee of € 300.00 . Please add your address to your payment and name of actual participant if it is different than the payer. If your company is paying the workshop, include your vat-number as well with the company name. Payments will be done in Paypal.
