Pinstriping Basics Deluxe

We will start on Saturday and Sunday at 10.00 and continue until 17.00

Deluxe workshop will give you more time to concentrate on pinstriping and will be an effective way to practice of delicate craft.

​

Topics to be addressed:

• The history and origins of pinstriping

• The materials of pinstriping

• How to handle the tools, how to deal with a new brush in order to get the best out of it

• How to handle the brush when painting different kinds of pinstriping figures, avoiding the most common mistakes

• How to start a straight line • How to paint an arc (arc, s-figure, symmetry, fish shape)

• Introduction to the principles of design figure painting

• How to paint scrolls

• Design Painting, the rhythm, the composition and how to select the right color

• You will paint a full two colored pinstripe design panel

• Gold leafing principles combined with pinstriping design

 

Tools and methods

Students paint by themselves, but under the watchful eye of Pekka. 
Previous experience is not necessary, although it doesn’t probably do any harm either... You can also bring your own your previous works for evaluation.
The paints we use are alkyd based and they are thinned with white spirit. It is a normal household product, but if you know that you are allergic to it, please let us know.  
You will need work wear as well as something to eat for the lunch break. Coffee and pastries are on the house.

Sometimes people bring their own items to be striped on site, but unfortunately we have no chance to work with them during the workshop hours, sorry!

What's included in the price?
We use pinstriping paints, please bring  a transparent ruler, a pencil, hardness of HB or softer. If you have purchased your own brushes, please take them with you for us to check for the eventual need of trimming. The workshop brushes will be supplied by us. If you have previously done some striping, feel free to take  your stuff for evaluation.  You need work wear as well as something to eat for the lunch break. Coffee and pastries are on the house.

Ten to fourteen participants is an ideal amount of students.
