Basics of Pinstriping

Pinstriping basics workshop 

Workshop length: 14 hours

Cost: Eur 300,00

Venue: Dixieland Shop, Dixieland Gl. Aarhusvej 390 DK-8800 Viborg

We will start on Saturday and Sunday at 10.00 and continue until 17.00

Topics to be addressed:

• The history and origins of pinstriping

• The materials of pinstriping

• How to handle the tools, how to deal with a new brush in order to get the best out of it

• How to handle the brush when painting different kinds of pinstriping figures, avoiding the most common mistakes

• How to start a straight line • How to paint an arc (arc, s-figure and symmetry)

• Introduction to the principles of design figure painting

• How to paint scrolls

• Design Painting, the rhythm, the composition and how to select the right color

• You will paint a full two colored pinstripe design panel

Tools and methods

Students paint by themselves, but under the watchful eye of Pekka.
Previous experience is not necessary, although it doesn’t probably do any harm either... You can also bring your own your previous works for evaluation.
The paints we use are alkyd based 1-Shot Lettering Enamels, and they are thinned with white spirit. It is a normal household product, but if you know that you are allergic to white spirit, please let us know.  

Sometimes people bring their own items to be striped on site, but unfortunately we have no chance to work with them during the workshop hours, sorry!

What's included in the price?

We will supply all the paints and brushes, paints are pinstriping/lettering enamel paints.

Please bring  a transparent ruler and a pencil, hardness of HB or softer. If you have purchased your own brushes, please take them with you for us to check for the eventual need of trimming. If you have previously done some striping, feel free to take  your stuff for evaluation.  Bring your working clothes and comfortable shoes. Coffee and pastries are on the house.

How many participants?

Ten to fourteen participants is an ideal amount of students.

Your registering will be active as soon as you pay the participation fee of € 300.00 . Please add your address to your payment and name of  actual participant if it is different than the payer. If your company is paying the workshop, include your vat-number as well with the company name. Payments will be done in Paypal or Mobilepay.
